Research
Prof. Dr. Józef
Szarek has been working in the same university since 1972 and since 1988 has
been the head of the Department of Forensic and Administration of Veterinary
Medicine. He has completed experiments into cattle leukaemia (leukaemia bovis),
pathomorphology of amyloidosis in experimental animals, pathology of chickens
caused by combined influence of medicaments and metals. Currently he does
research into morphological lesions in poultry in farm breeding, pathology of
wild birds (pathomorphology of internal organs with consideration of xenobiotics
in mallards, coots, herons, eagles, and cormorants), morphological lesions in
internal organs in experimental animals upon the influence of heavy metals and
phospho-organic compounds, morphological lesions in fish caused by pesticides.
Prof. Szarek has conferred four doctoral
theses and currently he supervises three doctoral theses. He was also supervisor
of the one veterinary surgeon from Pakistan: Muhammad Zargham Khan from the
Department of Pathological Anatomy, University of Agriculture in Faisalabad
(1989 – 1991).
