Education

1958 - Experimental pathobiologist by training

1990 - PhD at University of Utrecht, the Netherlands, on a thesis titled:
                        “Pathogenesis of AA-amyloidosis”.

1986 ‑ 1993 researcher/assistant professor at the Department of Veterinary
                        Pathology, University of Utrecht, on the subject of amyloidosis
                       and the acute phase response.

1993 ‑ 1995 visiting scientist on invitation by the Human Immunology & Cancer
                        Program, Department of Medicine, University of Tennessee Medical
                        Center (UTMC), Knoxville, TN, USA, and worked on (AL) amyloidosis,
                        and (innate) immunity.

1996 – present  senior scientist at the Animal Sciences Group of Wageningen University
                        Research in Lelystad, The Netherlands. Furthermore, he is a senior
                        member of Research Schools of Wageningen University and Utrecht
                        University.
