Summary:
The author discusses the dynamics of gender stereotypes in Polish and German matrimonial notices from the 90s of the 20th century as well as these from the first decade of the 21st century. The cognitive-semantic analysis of the texts is based on several criteria: age, appearance, features of personality and interests, family situation, material situation, occupation and education. The research performed proves that women and men do not have diametrically different conversational styles. The distinctness consists mainly in a fact that men mention their age, interests and features of appearance more frequently in texts, whereas women (particularly in German texts) describe their family situation. Not only do Polish women reluctantly reveal information concerning their appearance, but also have smaller requirements of this type from their future partners.
