Summary:
The project of the magazine going beyond the region was born in Olsztyn among the journalists connected with “Głos Olsztyński” and “Warmia i Mazury” (“Voice of Olsztyn” and “Varmia and Masuria”). The first issue of “Panorama Północy” (“Panorama of North”) appeared on August 4, 1957, the last on December 13, 1981. Its founders were Olsztyn intellectuals escaping in 1957 from provincialism and localism for the benefit of all-Poland and worldwide matters, going beyond average media initiative in the days of communist Poland. The first few years of the issue of the magazine showed big capabilities and knowledge of this circle and the next years, when they tried to keep the all-Poland profile of the magazine were the proof of timid trials of decentralisation of the Polish press. The literary texts took a small percentage of each issue of the magazine from the very beginning. However, their exemplification shows the range of undertaken topics and their form. It also points out the surnames of the journalists who were the authors of interesting literary critical analysis.
