    Summary:

    In this article, the author presents the socio-cultural maganine “Warmia i Mazury” in the years 1955 – 1967. The selected period of time covers the origin of this journal when it was named “Mazury i Warmia”) through its development, until the moment when it became fully formed. In the article, special attention has been brought to the description of a relationship between the magazine and the Socio-Cultural Association “Pojezierze”, established on the initiative of the same journalists. The first pages of this article constitute the description of the creation of this regional periodical paper. Further on, the author portrays changes in the editorial staff, circulation and the form of the magazine during this twelve-year period. This part of the article is supplemented with an annex presenting the structure of the editorial office. The author also describes the organizational structure of “Warmia Mazury”. In this article, the author proves the thesis that the magazine created in Olsztyn was an absolutely grass-roots initiative, which derived from the local journalistic environment. He also portrays the relationships between the magazine’s editorial staff and the local communist party authorities.
