- Prophylaxis of the deficiency diseases (iron and folic acid deficiency anaemia, iodine deficiency). Physiologic anaemia in the first quarter of life.
- General principles of the children nutrition (>1yr) . Diet requirements, food components, the role of breast milk in the postnatal period.
- Physical development assessment. Measurement s: weight, height, head circumference, chest circumference. Psychomotor development and coordination assessment.
- Pre mature baby – paediatric care, development assessment.
- Symptomatology and diagnosis of the cardiac disorders in children.

- General state assessment of the newborn. Size at birt – factors that influence the birth weight (genetic, placental insufficiency, maternal illness, environmental factors such as poor nutrition, maternal tobacco smoking, drug addiction or alcoholism). - Newborn characteristic, appearance and physiology. Characteristic of preterm, term, post term infants. Size at birth – classification: SGA.Examination of the newborn: general appearance, posture, movements, primitive reflexes, head, fontanelle, face, eyes, tongue, muscle tone.
