Krzysztof D. Szatrawski, was born in Kętrzyn, September 1, 1961. Polish poet, writer, philosopher of the culture. In his artistic works he combines the aesthetic and philosophical exploration on human condition. In research works he focuses on culture in theoretical and historical perspective. He studied Music in Wyższa Szkoła Pedagogiczna in Olsztyn (today Uniwersytet Warmińsko-Mazurski) and theology in Instytut Kultury Chrześcijańskiej im. Jana Pawła II. In 1994 he achieved PhD degree in Nicolas Copernicus University in Toruń, and in 2014 he obtained habilitation in the same Nicolas Copernicus University in Toruń. He works as the professor of University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. He is author of many works in the field of musicology, literary studies, history and theory of culture. He works as the professor of University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn and continues social activity as essayist, music and literary critic, host and expert in radio, television and public debates. He is president of Stowarzyszenie Pisarzy Polskich Division in Olsztyn, president of Polish Writers Association - Olsztyn Division, vice-president of Association for Jewish Culture "B'Jachad", member of many cultural and scientific organizations. He is also translator of poetry and prose from English: Walt Whitman, T. S. Eliot, Allen Ginsberg, Charles Bukowski, Tom Waits, from German: Arno Holz, from Russian: Boris Bartfeld, Vadim Mesyats and from Hebrew: Yehuda Amichai. In the nineties he was editor of the "Dziennik Literacki" column in "Dziennik Pojezierza". He is the author of numerous journalistic texts, music, theatrical and literary reviews. In 2009 graphic poems from Wiersze graficzne (1990) were shown in Polish movie Mniejsze zło. His poems are also used as lyrics in numerous musical works by Katarzyna Brochocka, Bernard Chmielarz Benedykt Konowalski and Marcin Wawruk. For lyrics recorded on album Warto żyć by Krzysztof Krawczyk in September 2011 he received gold record.
He is author of seven books of poetry: Posłanie ostatniego z epigonów (Olsztyn 1981), 24 godziny śmierci (Warszawa 1988), Poniżej snu (Olsztyn 1989), Wiersze graficzne (Olsztyn 1990), Tak cicho śpiewa północ (Olsztyn 1997), Pieśni miłości i rozstania (Olsztyn 1999), Wiek nowy (Olsztyn 2014). As novelist he published Requiem dla Bohatera (novel - Warszawa 1989) and Odjazd (short stories - Olsztyn 2006). He is also an author of complete translation and critical edition of Arno Holz: Phantasus / Fantazus (Kętrzyn 2013). His dissertations and monographs are: Jan Lubomirski. (Olsztyn 1991), Przestrzeń sakralna w kancjonale mazurskim. (Olsztyn 1996), Z miłości do muzyki. 60 lat Warmińsko-Mazurskiej Filharmonii im. Feliksa Nowowiejskiego. (Olsztyn 2006) and Odkrywałem ślad po śladzie utracony... Ideowe uwarunkowania twórczości Juliana Stryjkowskiego. (Olsztyn 2011). He published dozens of research studies on music culture and regional studies and more than thousand popular articles and musical reviews.
