Dr Maciej Duda

           

 

Adiunkt at the Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn.

 

He graduated in Law from the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn with a very good result. In 2009, he defended his master’s thesis entitled „Obrona konieczna jako okoliczność wyłączająca odpowiedzialność karną” (Self-Defence as a Circumstance Excluding Criminal Liability), written under the supervision of Prof. dr hab. Stanisław Pikulski. In 2015, he defended his doctoral dissertation entitled „Przestępstwa kłusownictwa rybackiego. Studium prawnokarne i kryminologiczne” (Offences of Poaching in Inland Fisheries – A Criminal-Law and Criminological Study), also under the supervision of Prof. dr hab. Stanisław Pikulski. The reviewers were Prof. dr hab. Wiesław Pływaczewski (UWM) and Prof. dr hab. Bogusław Sygit (University of Łódź).

 

In 2011, he completed postgraduate studies at the Wrocław University of Economics and Business, Faculty of Management, Computer Science and Finance, in the field of Accounting.

 

Between 2009 and 2015, he completed doctoral studies at the Faculty of Law and Administration of UWM.

 

Since 2016, he has been employed at the Department of Criminology and Criminal Policy of the Faculty of Law and Administration, UWM — first as a research assistant, and later as an assistant professor (adiunkt).

 

His main area of scientific research is green criminology (ekokryminologia).

 

Other fields of interest include:
crime against cultural and natural heritage, illegal markets, victimology, cybercrime, food crime, economic crime, female crime, juvenile delinquency, penitentiary studies, and social pathologies.

 

He is the author of over 50 scientific publications in criminology and criminal law.

 

He has completed research fellowships at:

  • Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica (2019)

 

He has participated in the Erasmus Staff Mobility Programme (2019, 2020) and in the PROM programme of the National Agency for Academic Exchange (2020).
