Student Research Group “Na tropie” (Criminalistics and Forensic Sciences)

The Student Research Group “Na tropie” was established in 2011 on the initiative of students of the Internal Security program. The first President of the Group was Mr. Jarosław Rybak, M.A. In the following years, this role was held by Patryk Pełszyk, M.A., Katarzyna Karwowska (Hebda), M.A., Tobiash Wiśniewski, M.A., Milena Powirska, M.A., Aleksandra Kowalska, M.A., Daria Zarzycka, M.A., and Marek Wachaczyk, M.A.
The Group has been continuously supervised by Denis Solodov, M.A.
Since its founding, the Group has undertaken numerous initiatives to promote forensic science and has achieved several notable successes.

Co-organization of the workshop “DNA – The Encyclopedia of Life” – demonstration of fingerprint detection techniques, April 15, 2014;
Participation in the organization of “Biologists’ Night” at UWM – conducting fingerprint workshops, December 18, 2014;
Co-organization of “Science Days” – workshops on fingerprint and biological trace analysis, September 26, 2014;
Participation in organizing “DNA – The Encyclopedia of Life” workshops in cooperation with the Biotechnology Student Research Group at UWM – demonstrations of fingerprint, trace, and biological evidence detection, as well as crime scene examination, April 17–18, 2015;
Organization of fingerprint workshops during the 15th Anniversary of the Faculty of Law and Administration, June 10, 2016;
Organization of the National Scientific Conference “Forensic and Medical Aspects of the Evidence Process”, April 21, 2017;
Organization of the 9th National Convention of Forensic Science Student Research Groups, 2018;
Annual organization of the Forensic Knowledge Competition, in cooperation with the Department of Forensic Science and Forensic Medicine, Faculty of Law and Administration, UWM, and the Polish Forensic Association.
Achievements
1st place in the competition for the best student crime scene investigation team, 2nd National Forensic Student Workshop, Police Academy in Szczytno, May 14–16, 2014;
3rd place in the same competition, 4th National Forensic Student Workshop, Police Academy in Szczytno, May 23–25, 2016;
1st place in the same competition, 5th National Forensic Student Workshop, Police Academy in Szczytno, May 18–20, 2017;
1st place in the same competition, 6th National Forensic Student Workshop, Police Academy in Szczytno, May 2018.
The Group also organizes meetings with representatives of forensic science and practice and participates in University Open Days. It closely cooperates with the Warmian-Masurian Branch of the Polish Forensic Association, and many of its members have joined the Polish Forensic Association.
In October 2025, the Group underwent a rebranding – its new name is Student Research Group “Na tropie” (USOS code: 2400SK-KNKNT).
