- diameter of the hole between chambers 1 mm
- windows are made from glass

the
measurement
vessel.
The bilayer lipid membrane
is formed inside the hole in
the septum.
The membrane is surrounded by the Plateau-Gibbs border. The border is
composited
of a membrane forming solution (polar lipids dissolved in an organic
solvent,
e.g. decane).
