NATO DEEP ADL xAPI Workshop
On 4-6 November 2019 NATO SCHOOL Oberammergau (NSO) was a host to “NATO DEEP ADL xAPI workshop” organised by NSO ADL office. The event gathered professionals from PfP Consortium, the Marshall Center, NATO DEEP partner countries, as well as NATO DEEP ADL Portal Coordinator, Assoc. Prof. Piotr Gawliczek and NATO DEEP ADL Portal Instructional Designer, Justyna Kowalczys, M.A. The participating organisations were represented by Giorgi Kokhreidze (Georgia), Oleksandr Shapran and Roman Manovskyi (Ukraine), Dimitar Bogatinov (North Macedonia), Jovan Bajcetic (Serbia), David Ghazaryan (Armenia), Irina Babara (Moldova) and Mohamed Lassoued (Tunisia). The opening ceremony included a welcome meeting with the NSO Dean of Academics, Colonel Brian Hill and with dr. Raphael F. Perl, executive director in PfPC.
The ADL xAPI sessions were run by Tanja Geiss (NSO ADL Chair), Gheorghe Roman (NSO ADL Course Director), Biljana Presnall (Jefferson Institute), Paul Thurkettle and Peter Spurling (NATO Allied Command Transformation - ACT, Norfolk), Daniel Sora (NATO Defence College) and Piotr Gawliczek. The training focused on innovative technologies and solutions within Advanced Distributed Learning. Participants’ skills were mastered in the areas of LMS, LMS, SCORM, xAPI, online tutoring methodology and the ways to capture learning data. Individual sessions were also dedicated to virtual classroom environment, with artificial and virtual reality (AR/VR) overview, as well as video implementation into the learning process.
A three-day workshop proved extremely beneficial for all the participants and organizers from the perspective of synergy, networking and exchange of good practice on Advanced Distributed Learning.
