Fish Embryo Acute Test (FET)

We offer high throughput in vivo toxicological screening method - Fish Embryo Acute Test (FET) intended to determine the acute toxicity of chemicals on embryonic stages of zebrafish. FET is a convenient, rapid and inexpensive test following the OECD 236 Guidelines. The method relies on the incubation of embryos individually in 24-well plates with different concentrations of the molecule of interest from 0 to 96 hours post fertilization (hpf). The test method is based on using a minimum of five test concentrations as well as appropriate controls, with ten individual embryos per exposure concentration. According to OECD 236 Guidelines, we record four selected readouts as indicators of mortality:
• Coagulation of fertilized eggs
• Lack of somite formation
• Lack of detachment of the tail-bud from the yolk sac
• Lack of heartbeat
FET gives a feedback about:
• NOEC: No Observed Effect Concentration
• LOEC: Lowest Observed Effect Concentration
• BMD: Benchmark Dose (Lethal Concentration 10)
• LC50: Lethal Concentration 50
