Regulation
Regulations of the Student Laboratories of the Department of Physics and Biophysics
I. Order regulations
1. The order of exercises is given on the bulletin boards and the Department of Physics and Biophysics at the Department's website. Exercise teams will be established during the first class
2. During their stay in the laboratory, students are obliged to strictly follow the instructions of the teaching staff and technical service staff.
3. Classes start punctually according to the timetable. Students coming to the lab when their teammates have already started taking measurements will not be admitted to classes.
4. It is prohibited in the lab:
a) bringing overcoats and large luggage (backpacks, bags) to lab,
b) communicating via mobile phones,
c) eating (including chewing gum and drinking beverages) and littering,
d) conducting loud conversations and moving away from his lab table without apparent need.
5. The instruments should be handled with due care and attention, in particular:
a) you must not connect electrical systems to the voltage source until the teacher checks the system - failure to comply with this rule will result in the prohibition of the exercise,
b) if the student, despite studying the script, etc. of the recommended materials, he is still not sure how to use a given device, he should consult the teacher or technical staff.
6. Students are materially responsible for damages caused in the studio due to their fault (e.g. as a result of failure to follow the recommendations of the teachers or complete carelessness).
7. For non-compliance with order regulations, the student may be removed from the lab, the consequence of which is unexcused absence and failure to complete the exercise.
II. Students' rights and obligations
1. Every student is obliged to comply with the health and safety rules and regulations during classes.
2. Students receive all the necessary instruments, samples and reagents in the lab, while they themselves obtain paper for reports, charts and printouts (office, millimeter, xerographic) and all office supplies (pencils, pens, rulers, curves, erasers, etc.) and scripts
3. Students are required to prepare for the exercises. This means:
a) mastering the appropriate scope of material and orientation in measurement methods on the basis of a guide for exercises, course manuals and additional instructions available in the studio, materials recommended by the course instructors, which should be read before class,
b) preparation and bringing to the class a report form (on an A4 sheet) containing a theoretical introduction with a drawn (printed) table of measurements and results. The template is an up-to-date lab guide, script or manual.
4. Students can use the advice, tips, explanations and any help of the staff, regarding the performance of measurements and their development, as well as all the laboratory equipment intended for the performance of a given experiment. However, the possibility of asking questions and discussing with the trainers does not mean tolerance for lack of preparation.
5. If there is no elementary preparation for the exercise, measurements may be forbidden.
6. The knowledge and level of preparation of students for classes are checked by the teacher in the form of oral and written tests at any time during the exercises. Insufficient theoretical preparation of the student will result in failure to pass the exercise.
7. Applications and complaints should be addressed to the course teacher.
III. Course of exercises
1. After the classes have started, the team representative collects (leaving the slip) from the teacher with additional accessories and materials. Students should familiarize themselves with the devices without delay and report any defects, malfunctions and deficiencies immediately to the lecturers. Measurements should also be started immediately according to the instructions of the guide, script and any additional instructions.
2. Measurement results and relevant data should be entered in the tables in the report on an ongoing basis and presented to the leaders upon their request. After all measurements are completed, calculations must be made and a report must be given the teacher.
3. The student may, with the consent of the teacher, take the report to be developed at home. However, he must make sure that it is signed with the teacher's signature confirming the performance and correctness of the measurements. Reports without such a signature will not be accepted later!
4. After completing the measurements, the measuring station should be tidied up: wash the glass and laboratory vessels, wipe the tables, turn off the instruments, hand over the collected items to the teacher.
5. Before leaving the laboratory, make sure that no personal belongings have been left on the measuring table. The lab staff is not responsible for any items left behind.
IV. Credits - general rules
1. The condition for obtaining a credit for laboratory exercises in physics is to pass the required number of exercises planned in a semester for a student of a specific field of study.
2. The organizer of laboratory classes in a given field of study (lecturer) determines the subject of classes, their number and the standard for passing, as well as a detailed course of final credits. All this is made known to students during the first (introductory) classes.
3. The conditions for completing individual laboratory exercises are:
a) adequate (at least sufficient) theoretical preparation,
b) correct measurements,
c) preparation of the results in the form of a report that will be approved by the teacher.
4. A complete report on the measurements taken should be submitted at the latest during the next class. The same applies to the reports returned by the correction operator. The tutor may fail the exercise if the report is kept by the student for more than the period specified above!
5. The student - the author of the report returned for correction - is obliged to correct all errors indicated by the teacher, and to review the entire work critically. Failure to take into account all the teacher's comments and careless improvement of the report may result in failure to complete the exercise.
6. The teacher may order poorly performed measurements to be repeated, as long as there is time and place within the class.
7. In the case of absences justified by a sick leave or important random events, the student may apply to his teacher for an exercise performed on a different date.
8. If the measurements are not carried out independently (writing off the results), the exercise will fail without the right to correct it.
