In 1978, the Faculty obtained the rights to confer the degree of doctor of sciences in technology in the field of food technology. Also during that year, next to the existing specialization: dairy technology a new specialization: human nutrition was established. In 1988 the Faculty's rights to confer the degree of doctor of sciences in technology in food technology was changed to the rights to confer the degree of doctor of sciences in agriculture in the field of food technology. The next expansion of the educational offer took place in 1989 when two new specializations were opened: food biotechnology and technology of plant products. In 1990, the fifth specialization was added: meat technology.
In 1992 the rights to confer the degree of Ph.D. in agriculture in the field of food technology was changed to the rights to confer the degree of doctor of sciences in agriculture in the field of food technology and nutrition.
During the academic year 1998/1999, according to the Resolution by the Senate of the University of Agriculture and Technology in Olsztyn, the new course of studies - Commodity Science.
In 1998, the Faculty, as the first one in the country, changed its name to the Faculty of Food Sciences and in 1999 it became a part of the newly established University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. During the same year another extension of the educational offer of the Faculty by the third and fourth fields of studies - Chemical and Process Engineering with specialization in food engineering and course of Gastronomy-Culinary Art took place.
During 76 years of its history, over 10000 students graduated from the full time studies with the professional title of a master engineer or engineer, 2000 students graduated from the extramural studies with the title of an engineer and 750 students completed supplementary and postgraduate studies.
More than 400 people were conferred the degree of Ph. D. and 100 of a doctor of sciences in technology or agriculture.
