dr Zofia Antes
Zofia Antes - a pianist and a piano teacher - started her work at the UWM on October 1, 2004 as the assistant, is continuing her work as an adjunct after taking the doctor's degree at the I.J.Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań in 2007.
Zofia Antes began piano lessons at the age of seven at the Primary School of Music in her family town Pszczyna. She continued her musical education under Mrs. Ditlinda Czyz at the High School of Music in Bielsko-Biała ( the diploma with distinctions in 1992). From 1992 till 1998 she studied at the renowned K. Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice under supervision of Pawel Skrzypek. She also studied under Professor Czeslaw Stanczyk (piano) and Professor Maria Szwajger-Kułakowska (chamber music). After her graduation (she received the Diploma with special distinctions and the scholarship of the Polish Ministry of Culture), she studied chamber music under Professor Maria Szwajger-Kułakowska .
Zofia Antes participated in many piano competitions. Three times she was the winner of prestigious All-Polish Fr.Chopin Art Scholarship Piano Competition, organized annually by the Fr.Chopin Society in Warsaw. The last time she won the First Prize. She performed regularly with many philharmonic orchestras in Poland performing Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Schumann, Rachmaninow and Kisielewski under such conductors as Sławek Wróblewski, Tomasz Bugaj, Jerzy Salwarowski, Zygmunt Rychert, Paul Elliott Cobbs, Billy Costello. She was collaborating with the renowned "Akademos" String Quartet. In 1996 she made her debut in USA and performed regularly presenting both recital and chamber music programs since then.
Zofia Antes becomes very active as a piano teacher. In September 1999 she began a full time teaching at the Frederic Chopin School of Music in Warsaw. She also works as a piano teacher in a number of piano master courses in Poland - Warsaw Piano Workshop (starting from 2007 she is also the Administrative Director of that international piano workshop) and abroad (Gold Country Piano Institute in Nevada City, USA - the piano workshop famous for its faculty with such piano celebrities as Lee Kum-Sing from Canada, John Perry form USA, Thomas Hecht from Singapore, Mark Ray and Graham Scott form Great Britain).
Many students of Zofia Antes are the prize winners of the piano competitions in Poland and abroad. The last one was Maria Suwała (the third prize at the nation-wide piano competition held by the Centre of the Artistic Education) in 2012 and Fryderyk Hoang Dong who got the first prize at the International Chopin Competition in Singapore in 2010.
Zofia Antes was rewarded for her pedagogical achievements by the Director of the Centre of the Artistic Education.
