About the Faculty

The Faculty of Economic Sciences is one of several faculties within the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn – the largest university in north-east Poland. The Faculty has full academic rights and grants doctoral and post-doctoral degrees in Economics. We offer undergraduate programs (Bachelor in Economics, Bachelor in Management and Engineer in Management and Production Engineering), graduate programs (Master in Economics, Master in Management) as well as various postgraduate programs. The Faculty also participates in the Doctoral School of University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn.

The history of the Faculty of Economic Sciences dates back to 1994 when an inter-faculty Management and Marketing program was launched at the University of Agriculture and Technology in Olsztyn. A year later, Faculty of Management was established through a merger of various university departments. In 1999 – after the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn was established through a merger between the University of Agriculture and Technology in Olsztyn, the Higher Pedagogical School, and the Warmian Theological Institute – Faculty of Management and Administration became one of its units. When in 2001 Faculty of Law and Administration became a separate unit, the Faculty was renamed to Faculty of Management and in 2004 to Faculty of Economic Sciences – a name used to this day. Since 2006 the Faculty confers a doctoral degree in Economics and since 2015 a degree of habilitated doctor in Economics. In 2022, the Ministry of Education and Science published the results of the evaluation of scientific activity conducted in 2017-2021. The Faculty of Economic Sciences received a B+ rating in the disciplines of economics and finance as well as management and quality sciences.
